The Confucianism Course discusses Ru-Confucianism as a religion that is both Religious and Philosophical, with the aim of cultivating students’ faith, morality, and spirituality. This course examines the understanding of sacred texts, the purpose of life and the afterlife, as well as how a Junzi should behave in living their life. It also explores the creation of the universe and humanity, and its relation to the essence of human existence, suffering, trials, disasters, divinity and faith in Ru-Confucianism, Prophets and Prophethood, Shenming, and deities. In addition, this course studies places of worship, rituals, and religious festivals, along with the fundamental values contained within them, which are grounded in the concepts of yin-yang, Tian-Di-Ren, and the historical development of Confucianism. Ultimately, this learning is expected to encourage students to embody faith, ethics, and morality in their daily lives, with the conviction that only virtue is pleasing before Tian.
